Changing Markets, Stakeholders, and Values Require Your Attention
Among the tsunami of news items, a common theme emerged. As medtech professionals, we need to loosen our grip on what we think we know about our markets, stakeholders, and what the value. VCs are knocking themselves out writing online posts about what they're looking for, how they're evaluating potential investments, and how to present the information that they need. Patients are declining medical therapies and modes that don't jive with their ethics or set them up for long-term medicalization of their lifestyle. Sadly, recent reports indicate that the number of young(er) people being diagnosed with cancer has surged with colorectal, prostate, and kidney cancers taking the lead in that population. All this new information should be informing how we develop, raise funds, and conduct our market research.
Those who listen to, and pivot with, their stakeholders have always come out on top. Now, with the plethora of information we have available to us, we should all be in the winner's circle, but too many are still faltering due to inattention to the emerging/changing indicators, either because of information overwhelm or a stubborn conviction that they're initial (old) premises and strategies stand the test of time.
They do not. Please avail yourself of the information and guidance that is readily served up to you on a silver platter.
